About Pay-Per-Click Advertising

Q. What is pay-per-click advertising?
A. Pay-per-click advertising is a medium whereby you create ads that appear on the major search engines like Google and Yahoo and, optionally, their partnered sites. You will have already seen these ads after performing a search on the search results page. Pay-per-click ads appear at the top and more often on the right hand side of your search results.

The owners of these ads only pay when someone actually clicks on their ad - thus "pay-per-click". Google also offers image ads on partner sites, however these ads are costed on the cost per thousand (CPM) model.

Q. Will pay-per-click advertising really drive more visitors to my site?
A. Absolutely. Pay-per-click advertising allows you to target people that you believe will be interested in your services or products. Quality ads ensure web users know what your site is about before they click your ad. So, not only will you get more visitors, you will get an increase in genuinely interested visitors.

While search engine optimisation is important, nobody can guarantee that you will rise to the top of search rankings. Pay-per-click advertising however allows you to directly compete with other advertisers (if any exist) for front page placment on search engine results pages.

Q. Is pay-per-click advertising the same as search engine optimisation?
A. No. Search engine optimisation is a process where you optimise your web site to rank higher in search engine results. It also includes off site methods including increasing the number of back links to your site.

That said, web site optimisation can also help improve your cost-per-click campaigns. Search engines reward relevance and as such you can often expect to pay less per click if the landing page on your site for a given keyword/keyphrase is highly relevant.

Q. Can anybody use pay-per-click advertising?
A. No. Pay-per-click advertising is not available to web sites promoting gambling, pornographic material or tobacco. Sites promoting hatred, violence, discrimination or illegal activity are also prohibited.

Using Pay-Per-Click Advertising

Q. How much will it cost me to start benefiting from pay-per-click advertising?
A. There are two costs to consider: 1. Our management fee and 2. The costs incurred by your pay-per-click campaigns.

Our fees are set on a sliding scale which adjusts to suit your budget. Basically you just need to determine your total online advertising budget. We can then tell you how much goes towards our management fee, and what will be spent on your campaigns.

Q. Where do users end up when they click on my ads?
A. You tell us! We recommend however that the landing page is relevant to the ad and keywords you are targeting. If you aren't sure, let us determine this for you.

Keep in mind that you can have a different landing page for every keyword/keyphrase if you like!

Q. How do I know what my budget is being spent on?
A. We report on your campaigns. We aim to be completely transparent in the application of our services and you need to know if your investment is paying off. You can also log into your accounts directly to see how things are going.

Q. What happens of my budget limit is reached?
A. If your budget is exhausted, your campaigns simply stop running. We can however set daily budget limits and ad rotation schedules to ensure maximum exposure each day. This way you know you''re ads will display right up until the end of each month.

Q. What happens if my budget limit is not reached?
A. While our management fee remains the same, any unused campaign budget remains in your account - that is, it rolls over.

Q. Does the quality of my web site matter?
A. Yes it does. Driving visitors to your site is only half the battle so you want to make sure visitors to your site convert to sales, leads etc. An attractive, well designed site will go a long way towards converting users into customers.

You will also benefit from lower cost-per-click (CPC) rates if the landing page has relevant content.
